“[We] are aching for words to express the realities of [our] lives, to speak the truth to God instead of putting on a charade of repetitive and empty praise cliches that ignore or deny the relentless storms.” – Glenn Pemberton, Hurting with God: Learning to Lament with the Psalms 2020 has sure felt like a series of relentless storms, hasn't it? What is it your heart is aching to say in the midst of it all? (Note: leaning into lament does not negate the side of our spiritual lives where we DO rejoice, praise, and celebrate. There are often words and emotions of both happening simultaneously, if we’re honest.) What is your honest response, in the midst of all that is going on in your life and in the world? Speak those words, even if they are uncomfortable on your lips.
