Happy Autumn Equinox! On this first day of the fall season, we have equal amounts of light and darkness. The light is still here; the shadow is, too. It’s not one or the other; it’s both/and as we begin the journey into less light and more dark. How do you generally feel about the coming of darker months? What is it like to pause on this day, when neither one outweighs or outshines the other, and name that both are important? Here is what author Joyce Rupp says: "I gratefully acknowledge how darkness has become less of an enemy for me and more of a place of silent nurturance, where the slow, steady gestation needed for my soul's growth can occur. Not only is light a welcomed part of my life, but I am also developing a greater understanding of how much I need to befriend my inner darkness.” How are you seeing the quiet nurture of darkness AND the welcome light, on THIS day? What would it be to befriend both, this autumnal equinox?
