We end the week where we began it, with Jesus’ invitation to rest in Matthew, Chapter 11 (this time in Eugene Peterson’s The Message): “Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.” Are you drawn to this invitation—to rest, freedom, lightness—as this week comes to a close? What is your sense of what Jesus is inviting *you* to today? How might the “unforced rhythms of grace” play out in your Friday? What one small step might you take in response to Jesus’ “Come to me”?
