Good morning, friends (and Happy Thanksgiving to those of you in the US!). If there ever was a time that getting “time away” was complicated… a national holiday known for gathering with dozens of extended family members - but this time during a pandemic - might be it. Whether you are getting together with people you love, or not, there is difficulty either way. When your house is overrun by more people than usual, do you lose sight of your center a bit? Do things like solitude just not seem like worthy pursuits, in the midst of all that needs to be done to get the meal on the table? When you ache to be with family or friends, but just can’t this year, do you feel a bit trapped – like “time away” would look more like being-away-with? Just notice this morning: what is your soul longing for? Can you attend to that, even in the holiday whirlwind (or lack thereof)? Can you allow God to hold it with you, all day, even as you take care of all else that may need to be done? Let that part of you be held safely in your center. Revisit it every so often – yes, even today, if you can. What is it telling you?
